Book Review ~ Crescendo

Title: Crescendo
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Rating: 4.5
Cover: 3.5 (not as good as hush hush)

Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can’t figure out if it’s for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home. The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father’s death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn’t answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

Okay, where to start? Maybe at how much I adored this book. To be quite honest I wasn't expecting Fitzpatrick to live up to the expectations but fortunately she did. Not only was this book totally captivating it had twists I wasn't expecting at all. It felt like I personally knew the characters and I felt so involved, most authors can't do that. The ending was amazing! A real cliffhanger, I don't think I'll be able to wait until next year! I mean with Marcie, Patch, Rixon and Hank!! I was left wanting so much more.

The one thing I thought was bad about this book was Patch and Nora's relationship. That is simply because I adore them together and I hated 'seeing' them fight, but i guess it just added more to the book. A few of the twists were obvious but not "scream in your face" obvious which was good because it kept me guessing.

In the first book I really hated Marcie, but this book started to make me feel sorry for her and to be honest I love it when the mean girl becomes the main characters friend (my favourite case of this would be house of night *Aphrodite). So hopefully Marcie and Nora start to get along ;p.

If you love a light, easy, fast paced, enjoyable read then I highly recommend this book.

Okay I've been really slack with writing reviews lately. Sorry, with school and work I get pretty pressed for time.

This week I only bought one book and that is Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson. I have read it before and it is one of my all time favourite books, so when i saw it i had to get it.

I also borrowed (from the library)
Meridian by Amber Kizer
Stake that by Mari Mancusi
Bones of a faerie by Jannie Lee Simner

Please attach a link to your mailbox so I can check it out (:

Book Review ~ Never Cry Werewolf

Title: Never Cry Werewolf
Author: Heather Davis
Rating: 3
Cover: 5 - I love the cover i think it is so adorable (the red hood? how cute!)

Moonlight can totally change your life.
And it all starts so simply.
You. Him. The moon. You’re toast.”
Okay, so maybe Shelby has made a few mistakes with boys lately. But her step-mother totally overreacts when she catches Shelby in a post-curfew kiss with a hot senior. Suddenly Shelby’s summer plans are on the shelf, and she’s being packed off to brat camp. It’s good-bye, prom dress; hello, hiking boots.
Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star) Austin Bridges, III. But soon she realizes there’s more to Austin than crush material—his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby’s help guarding it. Shelby knows that she really shouldn’t be getting tangled up with another bad boy…but who is she to turn her back on a guy in need, especially such a good looking one? One thing’s for sure, that pesky full moon is about to get her into trouble all over again.

I came into this book excited to read it, (I'm into werewolf books so it really interested me), wanting to like it, wanting to enjoy the characters and ultimately  the story. Unfortunately I wasn't completely satisfied *sigh*. It could be because the book is so short or because I didn't feel any connection between the characters.  I had trouble understanding why the main character did what she did most of the time, i thought about it for a while and the only conclusion i managed to come to was that it was simply to get the plot moving. If you like twists or analyse books too much, I probably wouldn't recommend it.  However, if you’re looking for a light read that you don't want to analyse then you would probably enjoy it. I also think that this book is aimed at a younger reader because it seemed childish at times.
