On My Wishlist

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. I ran out of time yesterday so I'm doing it today.

Book Review ~ Boys that Bite

Technically Sunshine can't get killed—because she's immortal. Well, not quite yet. Due to the worst case of mistaken identity with her dark-side-loving twin sister at a Goth club called Club Fang, Magnus, a vampire hottie, went for Sunshine's innocent neck. Now if she doesn't reverse it in time, Magnus will be her blood mate forever and she's doomed to be a blood-gulping, pasty, daylight-hating vampire. That would seriously bite. And now, after the unfortunate slaying of the vampire leader, Sunshine, her sister Rayne, and Magnus must find the one thing that can solve her problem: the Holy Grail. They wish it were a joke but it's not. It's absolutely necessary that Sunshine gets out of this in time, because somehow she scored the hottest prom date in her school, the mouth-watering Jake Wilder. So she just can't be a vampire for the prom-let alone the rest of eternity.

Boys That Bite is the first of a series of vampire books by Young Adult author Mari Mancusi. This book was a really easy read and found myself finishing it in a matter of hours! At first I was put off by the names of the twins.. seriously Sunshine and Rayne? To later find out it was because their parents were hippies back in the day, which I then decided it was rather funny. This book is full of slang which kind of annoyed me, it made it seem almost childish with some of the phrases she used. I did actually enjoy this book but I think the problems were overcome way to quickly and it was quite predictable . I really like the ending, even if it's not for the best but I think it'll add so much story to the next books (which I will read eventually). This book is a great light read :)

Book Review ~ Glass Houses

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation, where the popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks in the school's social scene: somewhere less than zero. When Claire heads off campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show any signs of life, but they come out fighting when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood...

Glass Houses is the first book in the Morganville Vampires series written by fantasy author Rachel Caine. When Claire moves into her dorm she is bullied to the point of being physically harmed. She moves out and finds refuge at the Glass House where she meets Michael, Shane and Eve. I really love the relationship between Claire and Shane, in a typical book they would be all over each other by the end, and I liked that Rachel Caine didn't do this. I personally have only really read vampire books were the vampires are good so I found it really refreshing that the vampires were the ones to fear. Overall this book is pretty good (I read it in one day), and I reccommend it for anyone who loves a good twist and a bit of action.

Unfortunately they aren't the best of teasers... but it happened to be the page I opened. I am actually loving this book so far and I've barely started.

Book Review ~ Sleeping with the Fishes

Fred is not your ordinary mermaid. She's not blonde. She's not buxom. And she's definitely not perky. In fact, Fred can be downright cranky. And it doesn't help matters that her hair is blue.

Fred is a force to be reckoned with, she doesn’t do what other people tell her to do, she’s very unique and holds her own. She reminds me of Betsy from MaryJanice Davidson’s ‘Queen Betsy’ series. They have similar attitudes in that they are always right and they are both outstandingly funny with their snappy humour.

The first page had me laughing so hard, it would have been the most awkward moment in the history of awkward moments! The book was such a great read and can safely say that MaryJanice Davidson is one of my all time favourite authors! This book is a   MUST read!

Book Review ~ Knight Angels

I looked forward to reading this book as soon as I saw it. The book is written in 5 different perspectives the characters these being Jane, Max, Wes, Emily, Sarah. When I first started reading it I found it some what childish and wasn't into it much at all. It was an "easy read" but because of the constant change of perspective it was hard to grasp a proper feel for the characters. It progressed nicely and I began to be more intrigued! If you are after a book that has you on the edge of your seat, this is not the book for you as it was very predictable and at times boring.

 

Despite all that the book was actually pretty good, I love reading about angels so that was a bonus and made the book a lot more interesting. I really loved Emily and Wes and I can safely they were my favourite characters! Emily is her own person who is simply read wrong by others and I enjoyed her relationship with Wes. Wes was also a great character although at times I became frustrated with his infatuation with Jane (mainly because I do not like her all to much, despite her huge roll in the book.)

This was a pretty good book, and I would love to read the next one (book of revenge).

This is the second book to Intertwined, which was an amazing read! If you love paranormal books, this is the book for you. Including vampires, Werewolves,  Fairies, witches, goblins, demons! It is amazing. Waiting for this book was absolute torture. To be honest it did take me a little while to get into this book... but about halfway through i couldn't stop reading. I really like the way Gena Showalter writes, so that was a bonus for me!

The ending to this book was CRAZY i couldn't believe it! My jaw literally dropped! I just stared at the page for at least five minutes!!! I need the next one!

Overall this book is captivating and full of all the things I love! Well done to Gena Showalter!!!
