Book Review ~ Undead and Unappreciated

Title: Undead and Unappreciated
Author: MaryJanice Davidson
Rating: 5
Cover: 4
Most women would love to live as royalty, but Betsy has found that being vampire queen has more problems than perks, except for always being awake for Midnight Madness sales. It may be easy to find blood (yuck) in the dark of night, but try finding a strawberry smoothie. And employees at her nightclub Scratch have been giving her nothing but grief since she killed their former boss. Some people...

But Betsy's "life" takes an interesting turn at a baby shower for her wicked stepmother, who lets it slip that Betsy has a long-lost half sister. Now twenty years old, this woman just so happens to be the devil's daughter...and destined to rule the world.

Undead and Unappreciated is the third book in the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson. I absolutely LOVED the first two books and this book was another great one. I am personally a huge fan of her writing style and enjoy every last word! This book is probably my favourite out of the three I've read, it is gripping, humorous, original and just a great read.

I adore Betsy and her shoe fetish! She is a great character with a great sense of humor. The comedy in these books is what makes me like them so much more than others. It's hard to find a funny paranormal book and this book hits the spot! It is simply amazing and if you haven't already read the first to... scamper off and buy them :p

  3. What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Gaining Followers, for me it isn't all about getting followers but more would be great!!
  4. What do you find most discouraging about being a new blogger?
Again Followers :$ I'd love to get more comments and followers to keep me motivated.

Book Review ~ NightStar

Title: NightStar
Author: Alyson Noel
Rating: 3
Cover: 4

Best friends make the worst enemies—they know all your secrets, your weaknesses, and just how to hurt you most...
After fighting for centuries to be together, Ever and Damen's future hinges on one final showdown that will leave readers gasping for breath. Don't miss this explosive new installment of the number one bestselling series that's enchanted millions across the world! (source: http://www.alysonnoel.com/immortals/night-star.php)

Okay, So it pains me to say this but this book let me down! Completely! Alyson Noel started out great and was doing a great job with this series but I honestly had to force myself to finish this. I didn't like this book overly for a number of reasons.

1. Ever started annoying the heck out of me! She is just some clueless teenager who didn't grow the entire book.

2. It went no-where, nothing happened (except for that thing with haven) and didn't answer any of the questions I wanted this book to.

3. It was boring! I didn't read this book once in the daytime (which is crazy!) and I had to force myself to pick it up at night and keep going. I kept telling myself it would get better, but it just didn't!

The reason that this book is a three is that I'm still glad I read it because of the other books in the series. I really liked them and recommend reading the series still, because all in all it was a pretty good series.

Books in the series: Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame, NightStar.

Book Review ~ Undead and Unwed

Title: Undead and Unwed
Author: MaryJanice Davidson
Rating: 5 <3
Cover: 4

Source: MaryJanice Davidsons website.

Betsy Taylor turns 30, gets laid off, is killed by an SUV and wakes up dead all in the same week. The vampire community is convinced she's their prophesied Queen. But she's not having any of it—she's got shoes to buy! And now the undead world is being turned upside-down by a Bela Lugosi throwback and her subjects expect her to take care of it! Why didn't she read the handbook? But her would-be consort, Eric Sinclair, is (annoyingly) ever-present. If only he wasn't so tall, dark, gorgeous...and undead.

Okay, so I read this book about, hmm, 5 months ago. I don't know why but I never got around to putting up a review even though it is one of my all time favourite books. MaryJanice Davidson is so talented. I don't even know the words to describe it. It is well written, interesting, funny and just plain awesome.

I loved Betsy's character. Her love for shoes and girly things made me enjoy the book that little bit extra. She isn't what the typical vampire (or vamps friend) is usually these days. She is still a funny and happy character and I loved that. Her "love interest", Sinclair, was also a great character, although at times it did remind me a bit of Artus out of Swimming with the fishes.

This book is a MUST MUST have I absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Book Review ~ Wings

Title: Wings
Author: Aprilynne Pikes
Rating: 3
Cover: 3.5

Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.

Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

Wings is well written and described beautiful and all in all is a good book. Unfortunatley for me,  I like to be captivated and feel like I've entered into the characters world. I also need good twists and turns to keep me picking up the book (or not putting it down). I actually found that at times I began to wonder off into my own mind and not pay complete attention to what I was reading. The one twist the book did have was so predictable, seriously would they really kill off both of the main characters? Really? Despite all this, it was still enjoyable and was unique. I haven't read a thing like it, alot of time and effort must have gone into putting together the background information. It was GREAT! haha very refreshing. I  don't think I recommend you to buy this, but it is a good read for a younger reader.

Books in this series: Wings, Spells.

Book Review ~ Dark Flame

Title: Dark Flame
Author: Alyson Noel
Rating: 5
Cover: 4.5

Roman. Damen. Jude, One is Ever's deadly enemy. One her great love. and the third might be the answer to all her problems. but Ever is trapped - bound by secrets, magyck and uncontrollable passion beating in her veins. She's being drawn towards someone - something - that risks everything she holds dear. And the one thing that can save her will also drive Damen away forever.

Dark Flame is the 4th book in the Immortals series! And OH MY GOSH! It is amazing, I was beginning to like this series a little (A LITTLE) bit less but then this made it go rushing back up into my favourites! The ending is the biggest cliff hanger :o I felt like throwing the book at the wall, jumping on it and never looking at it again (but that would be silly). I've waited so long for Nightstar and am finally reading it (pretty good so far). I have no words to describe it. I have read many reviews on it, some bad, most good, and completely disagree with the "bad reviews" and cannot justify why they have said what they have. I love this book, it is a light read, a love story, paranormal and quite unique. I definitely recommend these books to a teenage reader!

Books in the series: Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame, Nightstar.

Ever and Damen have traveled through countless past lives—and fought off the world's darkest enemies—so they could be together forever. But just as their long-awaited destiny is finally within reach, a powerful curse falls upon Damen...one that could destroy everything. Now a single touch of their hands or a soft brush of their lips could mean sudden death—plunging Damen into a bleak afterlife in the Shadowland, an eternal abyss for lost souls. Desperate to break the curse and save Damen, Ever immerses herself in magick—and gets help from an unexpected source...Jude Knight. But as Damen pulls away to save them from the darkness inhabiting his soul, Ever's connection with Jude grows stronger—and tests her love for Damen like never before...

Shadowland is the third book in the Immortals series, and is another great read! I can safely say that these books are amazing!! I read these books one after another and didn't want to put them down. They get more intriguing and leave you wanting more. I loved how karma and fate was tied  into this book so well, it just made it that extra bit better.

The new character Jude is introduced in this book and once again just adds that little bit extra to the book. With all the drama, twist and turns, Alyson Noel created a truly amazing novel. Alyson Noel comes up with the most shocking twists and turns, I usually can predict the outcome but this book was a exception! If you haven't read the first two books, get on it!

Book Review ~ Blue Moon

Title: Blue Moon
Author: Alyson Noel
Rating: 4
Cover: 5

Things have changed for Ever since she fell in love with Damen. But just as her powers are increasing, Damen seems to be weakening. Panicked at the thought of losing him, Ever finds a path to the in-between world of Summerland, where she learns the secrets of Damen's tortured past - and accidentally discovers away to twist time. Now she can save her family form the accident that killed them. It's all she's ever wanted - but so is Damen. And Ever must choose between them...

Blue Moon is the second book in the immortals series (series of 5). I read this book some time ago and thought I better put a review up. I loved this book, it was such a easy read and I didn't want to put it down. Well actually sometimes I wanted to throw it at the wall because of what was happening to Ever, but we won't count that. One of my favourite aspects of the book was when we were able to see form Damens point of view when her previous lives were revealed.

Oh, and there was a new character. Roman. He added so much to the book and became a pretty strong character. I couldn't help but have some liking towards him even when "we weren't suppose to".

Overall this book was amazing and leaves you wanting more. I definatley reccomend it for a teenage reader.

Books in the series- Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame, Nightstar.
